John Waechter CEO
Although only recently being named Saltmine's CEO in October, 2003, John Waechter has been an integral part of Saltmine's development since mid-2002. Since joining Saltmine, John's focus on evolving Saltmine's core competencies and reshaping its business acumen has helped increase the company's market presence, diversify and expand its client base, and develop new business opportunities.
John's strategy as CEO is carefully plotted and well conceived, and is wholly based on the principles he uses when climbing the world's tallest mountains. John believes that getting to the peak in business happens only by understanding the breadth and depth of your goals, acknowledging and assessing risks, and having a clear plan that leads you each step of the way. An avid mountaineer, John recently became the 60th person to climb the world's Seven Summits the highest peak on each of the seven continents having reached the summit of Mt. Everest in May, 2001.
Prior to joining Saltmine, John co-founded Waechter Lufkin, LLC, to work with emerging growth technology companies, develop their businesses, and raise private equity capital. A northwest native, John has been active in the Seattle business community since 1985, is a member of the Seattle Business Roundtable and 101 Club, and serves as the president of the board for Choices Education Group. He holds a B.A. from Whitman College, and received his M.B.A. from the University of Washington in 1995.

Wayne Schattenkerk President & COO
As president and COO of Saltmine, Wayne Schattenkerk oversees the day-to-day operations and strategic direction for the company.
Wayne joined Saltmine in June 2001 as chief financial officer. During the two years prior, he served as vice president of Waechter Lufkin, LLC, a Seattle-based venture banking firm assisting emerging growth companies, and co-founded Suncast Communications, a venture aimed at developing broadband telecommunication networks throughout the United States.
From 1995 to 1999, Wayne worked for Northland Communications Corporation, a national operator of cable television systems based in Seattle, where he served as vice president of Western Operations. For the 11 years prior to Northland, Wayne worked for IBM, a global leader in technology services and equipment.
Wayne earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in accountancy from the University of Notre Dame, and holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Washington.

Jonathon Day Director of Business Development
With over ten years of industry, sales and management experience, Jon has been at the forefront of the Web’s evolution and his affinity for the industry is evident in his approach to his work. As Director of Business Development, Jon leads the Saltmine sales team in achieving top-line revenue goals and managing strategic alliances.
Jon's commitment to building successful relationships with our clients and alliance partners is well-illustrated in our ongoing relationship with Microsoft. He works in collaboration with our development team, clients and Microsoft to extend and strengthen our core competencies as a Microsoft Gold Certified partner. Cultivating strong relationships with a select group of leading technology and marketing partners enables Saltmine to remain efficient and focused, while offering a broad range of services and decreasing time-to-market for our clients.
Prior to his role as Director of Business Development, Jon served as Microsoft Business Manager for four years managing Saltmine’s preferred vendor relationship with Microsoft as a software development and test vendor. Prior to joining Saltmine, he worked for Syntegra, the systems integration division of British Telecom, as Business Development Manager for the Pacific Northwest. Jon has been working with Web-related firms since 1996, when he joined Industry.NET, one of the first business-to-business portals, to manage West coast sales.
Jon received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University and is active in local business networking groups that include the American Marketing Association and Ad Club Seattle.

Roy Matich Creative Director
As director of the Saltmine creative team, Roy leads the creative process, setting the tone and direction for our work to ensure designs that are both strategic and inspired. Roy is a mentor and a leader for the creative team and visionary contributor on our clients’ behalf. His focus on user-centered design balances creativity with an understanding of user motivations to create engaging experiences between customer and brand.
With over 16 years of experience in the creative industry Roy has worked as a designer, an art director, a studio manager and a creative director developing integrated marketing communication solutions for Fortune 500 clients in technology, financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing and retail.
Roy’s work for Nike, Adidas, US Bank, Microsoft, Sims Snowboards, Decente, Sierra Online, and Time Warner has been recognized by the Toronto Art Director’s Club, Art Director’s Club of Metropolitan Washington, AIGA and publications such as PRINT, Applied Arts, Creativity, Studio and How magazines. Roy earned his Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design from the Alberta College of Art and Design.

Richard Vander Meer Director of Project Management
As Director of Project Management, Richard leads and mentors the Saltmine team of project managers by developing and maintaining key standards and business processes. His strong organizational and project management skills have been developed over the last 10 years, 6 of which have been in the Internet and Wireless industries.
Richard first came to Saltmine in 1998 after working as a project manager at Microsoft where he collaborated with multiple teams to implement a multi-tiered, Web-based internal reporting system. In 2000, Richard took a two year leave to work in the wireless industry with Infospace Inc. where he managed the Cingular Wireless Web portal and the integration of 3rd party service providers into the portal. Richard returned to Saltmine in 2003 to work closely with Saltmine’s US and international clients including Microsoft, BP, Overlake Hospital, QPass, Applicant, Jewlerlink, Fluke & FlukeNetworks, and Magex.
Richard has also worked in the technical recruiting, marketing and branding, hardware and software technical support and resource management industries and spent time abroad in the Saltmine London office working to integrate third-party products including Plumtree and Interwoven portals.
Richard received his Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Gina Heyer Controller
With more than 10 years' experience in accounting and financial systems, Gina brings a wide range of business experience to Saltmine. Her analytical management skills backed by her experience with financial and regulatory reporting, budget coordination and internal controls make her an essential player on the Saltmine executive team.
Gina works closely with Saltmine management to ensure timely and accurate financial planning. In addition, she collaborates internally with Saltmine project managers and maintains external banking and auditing relationships. Gina's approach to establishing and maintaining financial principles, practices and procedures is well-organized and well-practiced.
Prior to joining Saltmine, Gina worked as Controller for biotech company, Light Sciences, and as Accounting Manager for creative assets company, Corbis. Throughout her career she has developed and maintained financial systems and procedures and provided supervision for accounting staff. Gina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Seattle University.
